This project centered on designing a cloud-based suite of digital solutions to support retail SMEs, including a POS system, e-commerce website, and CRM tools, all integrated into a single platform. By centralizing data and customer information, this SaaS solution empowers retailers with real-time insights and streamlined operations across online and in-store channels.
Background
POS stands for Point of Sale or Point of Purchase. “A point of sale system is a combination of software and hardware that allows merchants to take transactions and simplify key day-to-day business operations.”
Octopus™ Retail POS System is the primary product of the company. The system covers every features a retail business may need to manage sales, product, inventory and customer efficiently. The system can be deployed as a one-time license or cloud-based subscription.
The software is available on Desktop, iPad, and iPhone.

Challenges
as the company’s lead designer, I often faced significant challenges. Meeting tight deadlines, making critical design decisions under pressure, and navigating communication barriers were all part of the process. To overcome these obstacles, I adopted new design tools, actively pursued continuous learning through online courses, meetups, and workshops, and worked to improve internal communication. This proactive approach helped me manage the demands of the role and stay agile in a fast-paced environment.
Impact
The new design is both visually appealing and highly intuitive, earning positive customer feedback and significantly boosting user engagement.
Following the interface launch in January 2016, iTunes reported a 20% increase in app store views. Since then, hundreds of terminals have been deployed, and we successfully secured a $1M investment from M1.
In 2019, I worked freelance on a short-term project to design a mobile POS system for iOS, built in Swift and supporting light and dark modes. I followed iOS design guidelines to create a seamless, user-friendly experience tailored to Apple standards.
